Submission Guidelines for Journals

The IJSB seeks to promote scholarship and teaching about Yunus Social Business (YSB). The journal was established with approval of Prof. Muhammad Yunus in 2016 and will be published 2-4 times per year (depending on volume of submissions) by the Center for Promoting Global Education. The journal seeks to publish work that engages with significant empirical, theoretical, and normative subjects related to the establishment, operation, performance of social businesses; theory behind the functioning of social businesses, and teaching in the field of YSB. The journal’s Editorial Board consists of scholars across several disciplines who are engaged in various ways with YSB.

Currently, the chief editor is Andrea Grove, Professor and Director of the California Institute for Social Business in collaboration with Muhammad Yunus, at California State University Channel Islands. Submissions may be made directly to the editor at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.. Submission guidelines are described below.

Guidelines for authors

The journal accepts submissions on an ongoing basis. Submissions should be made via email (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.)">This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.). Once the editor accepts for review, the double-blind review process will begin. This process is one in which reviewers will not know the identity of the author, and the author will not know the identity of the reviewer. The peer review process will take about 1-2 months. The IJSB requires that submissions consist of original work, not previously published or under review elsewhere. Length of articles should range between 6,000 and 10,000 words, though exceptions for longer or shorter papers will be considered in unique circumstances. We welcome articles that are about research, teaching, and practice, and will occasionally publish special issues in which the articles are linked in terms of content.

Authors are asked to email a full version of the paper and an anonymized version of the paper, both double-spaced. The highest standards of proper attribution should be followed, using the APA style for in-text citations and bibliography format (see a guide here). Footnotes or endnotes should be used only if necessary (see APA guidelines). Tables or figures should be placed in-line, as close as possible to the reference to them in the text. Other details such as the treatment of long quotations, etc., should be handled in line with general standards. Formatting issues will not serve as a barrier to publication, since they can be addressed once the content is evaluated.
